Submissions

The aim of the Court of Images is to look at justice-making. Consequently, the image takes precedence over the text. We expect all submissions to invite us to look at a chosen visual together, to negotiate the relationship between institutions of justice-making (courts, tribunals or similar spectacles and gatherings of justice-making) and people. The visual material can be in variety of forms including but not limited to sketches, photography, moving images, CCTV recordings, social media posts, web-streams, comics and other means of production and distribution of images, and from different sources including images submitted as evidence in a legal trial, images of the court itself, media reflections on a case, or any other images that the contributor feels are related to the process of justice-making in its broadest sense. The accompanying text can be of any format and length. We welcome theoretical, historical or philosophical engagement with the material as well as more creative interventions such as poetry, collages or video essays. As a point of reference, the viewers should be able to continue looking at the image while reading the accompanying text.
